Chloe Angus just opened a store and fashion design studio here in Vancouver. If you haven't seen her dresses before you should take a look at her website because they are beautiful! Many of her gowns were worn on stage by the Leo Award presenters.
For their grand opening Chloe wanted some cookies that matched the dresses that the models would have on for the event. Since I usually just bake for friends and family I was pretty excited/nervous to be making such a large amount of cookies for an event.
The three dresses that were chosen were:
This beautiful green and blue party dress
A simple black dress with Chloe's button wrap on it. The button wraps are really cool, they can be worn a bunch of different ways and come in a ton of different colours.
And last but not least this stunning pink dress.
I drew up some templates for the different dresses, made an insane amount of marshmallow fondant and then got baking and decorating.
I brushed each cookie with a thin layer of corn syrup and then draped the green fondant on top of it
..then brushed some luster dust on so that it would match the fabric a bit better.
To finish, each dress got some blue details for the belt, bow, and lace at the bottom.
For the dress with the button wrap I made this funny looking shape from a template so that I could drape the wrap around the shoulders.
This dress was the most fun to make even though it had a few more steps than the other two.
First I covered the cookie with a plain black dress shape made out of chocolate marshmallow fondant I cut out the wraps. The template was a bit tricky to get right because I wanted it to drape but I didn't want people to be eating cookies loaded with layers of fondant.
After cutting the shape out of fondant I thinned out the neck and the left side a bit to make them easier to work with
Then attach teeny tiny gum paste buttons brushed with silver luster dust.
The pink dress also had a funny looking cookie shape because of the arms on the dress. Undecorated these cookies just looked bizarre but then with a dress cookie for reference it makes more sense.
This dress also got a brush of luster dust so that it would be all sparkly and ready for it's party.
Then each cookie was bagged and tagged with Chloe's business card..
..and a little blog sticker on the back and sent off to the event.
Bye cookies! Have fun at the party!
Oh my goodness. I don't think anything has made me want to make cookies more than this. It looks like so much fun! Beautiful job, once again.
