A Little Bit About Me
I'm Stephanie and the author of this blog. To be honest, I sort of hate writing 'about me' blurbs because mine always end up sounding roboty and awkward. I was tempted to put..
"I typed this blog with my own hands. I bake and sometimes put on real pants (aka not leggings) like a grownup. Mostly I am alone and have flour on my shirt."
..and leave it at. Because all of those things are true. I literally have flour on my shirt at this very moment.
But that leaves out the kinds of details people are usually looking for when they click over to an "about me" page, so here are a few points for your reading pleasure:
- I live in Calgary Alberta, which is one of the friendliest places I've ever been. My list of previous residences includes Toronto, Edmonton, Kamloops, Kelowna, Vancouver, and Leeds. All were good, but so far Calgary is top of the list. Thank god, because I would like to avoid packing and moving at all costs.
- I love everything about baking. The science behind it, the act of measuring and weighing ingredients, decorating it, and (obviously) consuming ridiculous amounts of it. I probably shouldn't choose favorites, but bread holds a special place in my heart. So fun to make, and eat. It feels like you've preformed kitchen alchemy turning those basic ingredients into a beautiful loaf.
- My social life revolves around food and kitchen adventures. I'm lucky to have family and friends that are always up for trying cheese making, canning, pastry tasting, and dim sum-ing. I once had to write an 'about me' that included a list of my non-food interests. I just stared at my blank screen for 15 minutes thinking of all the times I traveled just to eat the local food, or read a cookbook instead of a novel. I finally typed "Yoga".. but I don't know if stretching in my kitchen while food bakes even counts.
